Keep Notes Online ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

1. What information do we collect?

1.1 Local Notes

Notes you create using the extension are stored locally using the Chrome storage API. These notes are only accessible on your device and never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to sync them.

1.2 Synced Notes (Optional)

If you choose to log in and connect your account at keepnotes.online, your notes will also be securely saved to our cloud database to enable cross-device synchronization.

1.3 Clipboard Data

We use the Chrome clipboardWrite and clipboardRead permissions to allow you to copy note URLs to your clipboard or paste text from your clipboard into notes. Clipboard contents are never transmitted, saved, or processed by us. Clipboard access only happens when you explicitly click the related buttons.

1.4 Downloads

If you choose to export or backup your notes using the extension, we use the Chrome downloads API to download the text file directly to your device. We do not track or record any download activity.

1.5 Context Menu

The extension uses the contextMenus API to provide a right-click shortcut to open Keep Notes Online or manage your notes. No data is collected from your browsing activities.

1.6 Active Tab

The extension uses the activeTab permission only to insert the URL of the current tab into your note when you explicitly click the "Insert current tab URL" button. We do not monitor, track, or analyze your browser activity.

1.7 Website Interaction (Content Script)

The extension injects a lightweight content script only on keepnotes.online to enable smooth interaction between the extension and your account. No data is collected from any other websites.

2. How do we use your data?

• We do not track, analyze, sell, or share your personal data.
• Your notes are your private property and only accessible by you.
• If you choose to sync notes, we store them securely on our servers for the sole purpose of allowing you to access them across devices.

3. Data sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your data to any third parties under any circumstances.

4. Data retention

Local notes remain on your device until you delete them. Synced notes are stored securely on our servers until you delete them manually or close your account.

5. Your rights

• You can delete your local or cloud notes at any time.
• You can disconnect your account and stop using our sync service at any time.
• If you reside in the European Union or similar jurisdictions, you have the right to request access, rectification, or deletion of your personal data under GDPR.

6. Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical precautions to protect your data. All communications with our servers use SSL encryption.

7. Changes to this Policy
